A few weeks ago I found out my amazing hair stylist and friend had been diagnosed with Leukemia. Dan Nguyen, one of the founders of Vancouver’s LURE Salon, is currently undergoing chemotherapy at Vancouver General Hospital. Knowing Dan you never would of thought that such a fit and healthy guy could be diagnosed with such a horrible disease. I am happy to report that Dan is doing well and fighting this with everything he has. I miss our chats about business and can’t wait for him to come back to LURE.
Once admitted to VGH, Dan experienced the importance of blood donation as he received many blood and platelet transfusions. In support of Dan, LURE Salon will be hosting “Cut For the Cure” On Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2011. With “Cut For the Cure,” LURE hopes to raise awareness of the importance of donating blood, especially within the Asian community.
All of LURE’s stylists will be performing complimentary haircuts with a minimum $30 donation. All donations will be given to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at VGH, and Canadian Blood Services will be on site hosting a blood drive. There will also be a silent auction which we have donated a Granted sweater and a $50 gift certificate for the boutique plus many other fabulous donations from local businesses.
Please come out and and support this important cause! You’ll walk away feeling great, and not just because you’ve had a fantastic hair cut!
