mgb Recognized Again

Posted by Nicole on June 19th, 2010

Last Sunday night our brilliant architects, mgb Architecture + Design, were in Chicago to pick up their two IIDA Interior Design Competition Awards. One for our little boutique, and one for the Rennie Art Gallery and Offices.

Little did they know that they’d also end up winning the Best in Competition award for LYNNsteven!

We’re thrilled and honoured that the IIDA chose our boutique for the 37th Annual award, ahead of projects such as the Guess? Inc. Headquarters in Los Angeles, MUMUTH Music Theatre in Graz, Austria and the Dubai Mall Medical Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.  We’re honestly blown away!  And of course we owe it all to the team at mgb, and everyone at Kingdom Builders.

We’re Open!

Posted by Nicole on December 24th, 2009

Like a Christmas present two days early, we finally opened our doors on December 23rd.  Just in time to kick things off with a Holiday Sale!

The team from Kingdom Builders worked day and night to get us open in time for Christmas.  The space really started to come together about two weeks ago, and while there’s still a little work to be done to finish off the store, we’re going to wait until early January to tie up the loose ends.  We think the space is amazing, and we can’t thank Kingdom or the design team from MGB enough for their hard work.

So check out the pictures, or better yet stop in and say Hi and have a look at the store in person.  Most of the store is 20–40% off, with an extra 10% off over the Boxing Day weekend (December 26th and 27th).  Hope to see you soon!

Full Steam Ahead!

Posted by Nicole on November 30th, 2009

Things are rolling now! The last few weeks have been busy, busy, busy! Here’s what’s going on with Lynn Steven…

Gastown Shop Hop

The Gastown Shop Hop is this Thursday — December 3rd — from 5pm to 9pm.  Since the Lynn Steven store at 225 Carrall Street is in the midst of construction, we’re going to preview what Lynn Steven has to offer in a “Pop-Up Shop” at 330 West Cordova.

We’ll be offering 20% off all merchandise, and we’ll be open all day.  Join us after 5pm for tasty treats and Christmas bubbly.

Construction

Construction is ongoing.  After demolition was completed we took a tour of the space with our design team from McFarlane Green Biggar and made a few tweaks to the design.  Of course a few tweaks also means new drawings and plans, and therefore a short delay.

Everything’s been sorted out, and it’s full steam ahead!  The target date for opening is set at December 17th!  So save some of that Christmas shopping!

Branding & Marketing

You might have noticed the new logo and wordmark. As I’ve mentioned previously, the MGB design team and I have been revisiting the Lynn Steven logo and branding materials to better reflect the look and feel of the store.

Some people have already mentioned that they prefer the old one, but Andrew and I are very happy with the new logo.  We think it’s a timeless design and one that supports the vision we have for Lynn Steven.

Guest Blogging

I’ve been guest blogging over at Scout Magazine for the past month and a half.  I’m contributing a weekly post discussing the process of opening the store, and it hasn’t been easy!  There have been weeks where it seemed like there wasn’t much to report on. This post seems to have generated the most discussion on Scout; it seems like the topic of Gastown has a polarizing effect on readers.

Check out Scout for all my posts, my sixth will be published today or tomorrow.

That’s all for now!  Hope to see everyone at the Gastown Shop Hop on December 3rd.  Remember, we’ll be at 330 West Cordova!  Sign up to receive our emails and we’ll keep you in the loop.

Been a little quiet around here lately

The Paper Is Up! Next step, demolition!

In case you haven’t noticed, it’s been quiet here on Shoptalk for the past few weeks.  It’s because I’ve been guest-blogging over at Scout Magazine.  Every week I’m posting a recap of what’s been happening and how the process has been going.

Not much new to report, but be sure to check out my last post for Scout Magazine where I talk about our recent buying trip to L.A.

The permits are ready, the paper is up and construction starts this week!  We’re one step close to opening our doors.
