Nicole Bridger FW10

Posted by on September 9th, 2010

We are beyond excited to be carrying local Vancouver designer Nicole Bridger at the store and just received our first delivery. Here’s a little bit about Nicole and her FW10 collection thanks to Kristinann Janishefski from Vanguard PR.

If you’re going to put your heart on your sleeve, it has to beat to a different drum: Nicole Bridger’s FW10 collection speaks to the strength and resilience of all women.

Sometimes, the most inspiring moments can come out of life’s darkest hours. The raw feelings associated with the trials and tribulations of life can consume even the strongest woman, but the true judge of character is how she overcomes.

Canada’s top sustainable women’s wear designer, Nicole Bridger learned the lessons of gratitude, strength and honesty, and has created a heartfelt and emotional connection with her FW10 collection.

Every season, the designer looks to her personal life for inspiration and draws from the life lessons she is learning at the time. “I called this collection Healing Heart,” Bridger speaks of her new season, “At the time of creating this collection I was divorcing my husband, and doing what I needed to heal from the hurtful decisions he was making.”

Devoted to showcasing her strength, vulnerability and resilience, Bridger paired down her collection to seven keycapsule pieces, which took the designer back to her signature art of sculpting fabric, originally learned with her time at Vivienne Westwood in London.

Each signature piece was created with the underlying confidence which comes with moving on with your life. Bridger recaptured the essence of youth and androgyny in the grateful top, exhibiting a retrained ruched sleeve, balanced with a looser and playful fit body. The organic wool “healing cardi,” a piece which can be styled and fastened three different ways, exhibits easy to wear versatility throughout life’s many stages; whether you are just starting to developing your own identity or whether you have already experienced motherhood. For FW10, Bridger has introduced a deep rich aubergine to her collection in the goddess dress, a strong beautiful piece rooted in the mind and heart, which again exemplifies her art of signature draping.

Bridger is a woman, who designs for women, regardless of shape, size and age, her effortless aesthetic gives women the confidence to go anywhere and do anything in strong, relevant, well designed sustainable pieces. All pieces in the collection have her signature “I AM LOVE” mantra sewn into its label and engraved into its Tagua nut buttons, as a reminder to speak kindly to yourself and to others, and help spread positive energy throughout.

Nicole was just chosen as one of the most influential and forward thinking designers of the year from “FashionTakes Action,” through her use of sustainable and ethical eco choices for her line.
